There was a shuffle of feet on the DecoTurf, the sound as a racket moved swiftly through the air, and the familiar hush that came over a crowd as they watched the back-and-forth movement accross the court. Tyler and his family sat enthralled as they watched the 2012 U.S. Open play out right in front of them.
Since his 7th grade year, Tyler has had a passion and knack for tennis-- playing for his school and whenever his spirits and health were high. Now 17, Tyler's passion still remains strong, and he let Make-A-Wish® Mississippi know just what he had been hoping for-- a chance to go to the U.S. Open and meet some of his favorite tennis players.
Beginning with his flight to New York City, Tyler's anticipation grew for what the upcoming days would hold. The events kicked off strong with Arthur Ashe Kid's Day where Tyler and his family got to see musical performances by chart-topping pop stars and even some live tennis matches. After the show, he was able to meet with some of his tennis heroes-- Andy Murray, Rodger Federer and Venus and Serena Williams.
Over the next few days of their stay in the city, Tyler watched those same heroes battle it out on the courts in several different matches and was still able to trek across the city to see the different things New York had to offer.
When the trip was over, Tyler admitted his favorite part of the experience was being able to shake hands with the men and women he'd admired for so long. "I couldn't have asked for anything more," Tyler added.
